His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Maktoum Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, First Secretary and Head of the Economic Department of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, spoke at the Opening Ceremony of last week’s 3rd GCC Britain Expo at the QEII Conference Centre in London.
Sitting alongside His Highness were Lord Marland of Odstock, the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy representing the British Government who also gave a speech, and Matthew Smith, Director General of the Middle East Association. The session was chaired by Jamie Banks, Head of the Middle East Team, Trade Group at UKTI.
There were four sessions throughout the day and some 20 expert speakers covering ‘Doing Business in the Gulf’, ‘Ingredients for Success in the Gulf’, ‘Focus on Infrastructure, Energy & Transport’ and a ‘Focus on Professional Services, Health & Education.’
Speakers and chairmen throughout the day included: David Lloyd OBE, Middle East Association, Jonathan Parr, Foster & Partners, Alan Turner, British Expertise, Sheikh Bilal Khan, UKTI, Nick Archer UKTI, Nadia Rinawi RAK Free Trade Zone, Alan Stevens, Vector Consultants, Matthew Anderson TVET UK, William McWilliams, Grant Thornton and Ali Sherwani, UK Export Finance. Each session was followed by a Q&A session allowing delegates to pose their questions.
